Shekhar Mehta urges membership development to be Rotary’s highest priority. He believes that focusing on regional plans, successfully transitioning Rotaractors into Rotary clubs, and increasing diversity and female members could yield a five percent (5%) net growth in membership each year. “Major brainstorming is needed to find effective solutions suited to different areas of the world,” says Mehta who is only the 4th Indian in 115 years to be nominated as RI President.

Dr. Isis E. Mejias

Dr. Mejias is a passionate Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WaSH) advocate. As a Rotary Global Grant Scholar she led a project to build a gravity-fed water distribution system. After she came back to Houston she started her Environmental Engineering degree to improve water treatment systems. Isis has a long-term career objective: to create worldwide incentives for water reuse and create awareness of the impact of improved WASH on creating healthier and happier lives.

Dr. Hotez is an internationally-recognized physician-scientist. He has served on infectious disease task forces and as US Envoy, focusing on vaccine diplomacy initiatives between the US Government and countries in the Middle East and North Africa. As both a vaccine scientist and autism parent, he has led national efforts to serve as a vaccine champion against a growing "antivax" threat.

Ruby was a former Rotary Youth Exchange Student to Belgium, President of the U of TX Rotaract Club, Rotary Ambassadorial Scholar, founding member of Rotary E-Club of Houston.

International Service Award for a Polio-Free World
Ann has made the eradication of polio and the alleviation of suffering by polio survivors her life's work. She has actively participated in 30 volunteer National Immunization Days to Chad, Mali, Bangladesh, Niger, Nigeria, Madagascar, Pakistan, Egypt and India. Ann is a member of the Rotary Club of Portland Sunrise in Maine.

The Theme for Rotary in Barry's year as President was: Be The Inspiration. He is the first Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives in The Bahamas and is retired as President after 38 years with Doctors Hospital Health System in Nassau, Bahamas but is still a Director. He stresses the power of Rotary’s new vision statement, “Together, we see a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change — across the globe, in our communities, and in ourselves.”

"My affiliation with Rotary had began in 2015 after I was “forced” to go to RYLA. I had the time of my life and little did I know it would be the catalyst of change that I needed." Later, in college, David founded a Rotaract Club. He will graduate in Spring, 2021. He now serves on the District 5790 RYLA Committee and is actively establishing a community based Rotaract Club in San Antonio.
